P2627-RT

Cereulide in infant formula (quantification LC-MS/MS)

Cereulide is the cause of a recent recall of infant formula from the European market.

P2627-RT is designed for the quantification of cereulid in infant formula by LC-MS/MS based on methods like DIN EN ISO 18465:2017-05 or similar. LOQs of at least 1 µg/kg are required for participation. LOQs of 0.2 µg/kg might be required for the commercially available material with contamination in line with typical concentration levels, currently on the market (see RASFF portal).

Two test materials are provided. One of the test materials is spiked, while the other one is a commercially available material with contamination.

The results are evaluated

  • with respect to the trueness criterion (70 to 120 % recovery of the spiked level, spiked material only), and
  • with respect to the comparability criterion (|z-score| ≤ 2).
