P2419-RT

Ethylene oxide, PCP and multi-method pesticides in guar gum

Contamination of several food additives like guar gum, locust bean gum, and carob gum with ethylene oxide resp. 2-chloroethanol were the cause of several product recalls over the last years. Contamination of guar gum with PCP was also reported repeatedly. Furthermore, pesticide residues can be found in guar gum as well.

Ring test P2428-RT consists of three different modules, which can be booked individually:

  • module 1: pesticides, included in common multi-residue methods
  • module 2: ethylene oxide resp. 2-chloroethanol
  • module 3: pentachlorophenol (PCP)

The analytical data are assessed with respect to

  • the correct identification of multi-method pesticides
  • the correct quantification of multi-method pesticides, 2-chloroethanol, and PCP with respect to the comparability criterion (z-score), and
  • the correct quantification of multi-method pesticides, 2-chloroethanol, and PCP with respect to the trueness criterion (70-120 % recovery of the spiked level).
