Polar pesticides and organotin compounds in infant formula

The ring test is designed to cover a broad range of polar pesticides in infant formula.
The parameters will be spiked at low concentration levels in order to reflect a low level contamination, which might be relevant for special purposes like infant formula.

Reporting limits of at least 0.01 mg/kg are required for each BAC and DDAC, chlorate, perchlorate, glyphosate, and N-acetyl-glyphosate.
Reporting limits of 0.003 mg/kg are required with respect to the organotin compounds.

The infant formula is spiked with

  • a selection of quaternary ammonium compounds (from BAC C-8 to C-18 and DDAC C-8 to C-12),
  • chlorate,
  • perchlorate,
  • glyphosate,
  • N-acetyl glyphosate,
  • as well as with the organotin compounds cyhexatin, fentin, and fenbutatin oxide (additional module).

The aim of the ring test is

  • the correct identification of the spiked quaternary ammonium compounds,
  • the correct quantification with respect to the
    comparability criterion (z-score ≤ |2|),
  • the correct quantification with respect to the
    trueness criterion (70-120 % recovery of the spiked level).
